A lot of old things fall out of fashion shortly after they become popular. Sure, some of them strangely come back a decade or so later with no explanation. For example, where did all these fanny packs come from? Other things like the phone in your pocket or the computer you’re reading this on are practically junk in 5-7 years. But fortunately, some things never go out of style. A finely-built car is one of those rare things.
In this case, it’s a 1990 BMW M-Technic. It sure doesn’t look like today’s sleek sportscars, but this was one hell of a ride in its day. In our opinion, it’s still a sweet set of wheels.
Luxury Engineering At Its Finest
This BMW 325i is an example of the company’s Japanese-market and comes outfitted with the M-Technic package. Finished in Sterling Silver Metallic, it looks every bit the part of a 90’s performance car.
It boasts a newly fitted 5-speed manual transmission as well as a Supersprint cat-back exhaust. Also in the back is a rear spoiler with Shadowline trim along the body. Factory 14” basketweave wheels are wrapped with Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires.
Beneath the hood, this car sports a 2.5L M20 inline-six engine. It can’t compare to the monster engines in today’s sportscars but in its day this bad boy had some kick. It has been kept in near pristine condition which means new owners can still enjoy the thrill of a ride in the BMW.
Clean Bill Of Health
Buying a previously owned car can certainly be nerve racking. After all, you never know what it went through before you get your hands on it. Fortunately, this car’s previous owner did the heavy lifting so you don’t have to dig. It comes with a stamped Japanese maintenance booklet and service records from day one on. How cool is it that the car comes with an authentic maintenance book in Japanese since it came from that market?
Maintenance records weren’t the only thing the BMW’s first owner took care of. The interior is kept in pristine condition. Cloth sport seats with M-stripe badges join matching carpets and door handles. You just know this owner had a no eating in the BMW rule because there are no stains to be found.
The steering wheel comes wrapped in M-Tech II leather. Next to it rests a BMW CD stereo system. It’s your choice if you want to blast 90s hits or modern day music through it. We won’t judge. Overhead, you can catch some fresh air with a fully functioning sun roof.
It isn’t every day we get to feature an almost 30 year old performance car with such a clean record and in such excellent condition. Some things are made to be adored for years though and this car is an example. Whether you’re a collector or just looking for your next ride, this BMW 325i M-Technic II is worth your attention.
