We live in a world where just about everything is a new twist on an old classic. And just as trends come and go and then come back again, so do automotive inspirations. For the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, it is all about paying tribute to the 1979 Mercedes G-Wagen. With obvious updates, because no one wants to live in the past. DUH.
The 2019 Mercedes Benz G-Class looks almost identical to the old model, but it is actually 2.1 inches longer, 4.8 inches wider and offers more legroom (an extra 5.9 inches) than before. Under the hood, the new G-Wagen is equipped with a 4.0-liter, 416 horsepower engine. In terms of off-road capabilities, the new G-Class is allegedly able to tackle all kinds of conditions and terrains. Although I’m not sure how many people want to go off-roading in their $100,000+ SUV.
Another notable interior upgrade from previous years is the removal of traditional dials. These have been replaced by two 12.3-inch digital displays, which have been arranged side-by-side giving off the appearance of a massive widescreen panel. However, this new panel does not feature the new infotainment system from Mercedes-Benz, the MBUX. Sadly, that is missing from the new G-Class, but for those looking to have the MBUX, the A-Class is going to be a better way to go.
Mercedes-Benz has not specified a price or release date yet for the 2019 G-Class but they are expected to release more information in the coming months. Although you can probably bet that this beauty will come with a six-figure price tag. Learn more from Mercedes-Benz
