There’s no denying that humans are wasteful creatures. Our waste has lead to climate issues that are destroying our sacred home: Earth. However, some companies are stepping up to help, and ADIDAS is certainly doing their part by creating completely recyclable shoes.
How Does It Work?
ADIDAS FUTURECRAFT.LOOP is made from recycled materials that can be completely broken down and reused. That means when you buy their shoe, and wear them down until they can no longer be used, there is no need to throw them out. Instead, you can send them back to ADIDAS, where they will break them down and recycle 100% of the shoe to create a new shoe again. This is going to make an enormous difference in material waste and (less importantly) the cost of producing shoes. ADIDAS stated that these shoes are made to be remade.
Companies have recycled things like shoes before. The difference is in the past shoes would be recycled into smaller items such as water bottles or bags. While any recycling is a step in the right direction, there is still a lot wasted. When a shoe is recycled completely into another shoe it creates a ‘closed loop’, where new materials do not need to be created and there is literally 0 waste created in the production of the shoe. These shoes are not only going to feel great to work out or run in, but they are going to help save the planet.
With ADIDAS taking this step, hopefully, more companies will follow. Soon, manufacturers will be making their products cleaner than ever and resulting in virtually no waste. This is the mindset we need to have if we want to make sure our great grandchildren can enjoy the same beautiful planet we have known. There is no going back once the Earth is gone, so we need to do our part to keep it clean. Just like ADIDAS. Learn More
