This $5.5 Million Floating Home Is the Epitome of Luxury Living

Ah, there’s nothing like chilling on the beach with the sound of waves crashing and a gentle ocean breeze. The only thing that beats that is having it all in your own backyard. There’s just something special about living on the water. It’s more carefree, a refuge from the hustle and bustle, and a one-of-a-kind experience.

If you have a cool $5.5 million laying around, you can live it up in the ultimate houseboat of luxury. A houseboat is probably an understatement as Arkup’s stunning livable yacht boasts 4,350 square feet. Thanks to electric propellers, you can cruise silently in the waterways, bay, or open sea for adventures on a whim’s notice.

This off-grid house gives you the freedom to move and live in comfort and luxury.

A bold vision for a new future

Arkup is a housing startup with plans for floating communities and resorts. Their start in this venture is the Arkup #1, the official name for the luxurious solar-panelled two-story houseboat that was introduced at the 2019 Miami Yacht Show.

Arkup had plans for a floating, hurricane-proof yacht since 2017 after the devastation of Hurricane Irma, a Category 4 storm. The company wanted to design models that can withstand storms of that magnitude. Two years later, the Arkup #1 was unveiled.

The property was unveiled in Miami as it is one of the areas most vulnerable to climate change. The Arkup #1 is inspired by floating houseboats in the Netherlands, where living on the water is more common. Arkup teamed up with the Netherlands-based architecture firm, Waterstudio, which specializes in designing floating homes.

Both companies envision a future with entire neighborhoods built on the water in major cities like New York and Miami. But before all that, the Arkup #1.

Self-sufficient, sustainable, and mobile

Arkup’s first model is full of smart tech and design for self-sufficient living. The home has solar power, stabilizing hydraulic stilts, and its own engines. The hydraulic stilts can be deployed to a depth of 20 ft to stabilize the home or lift it above the water to avoid waves and reduce hull maintenance.

The Arkup #1 is rated to withstand Category 4 Hurricane winds of up to 155 mph. It also has a 26 kW solar panel array and up to 1,000 kWh battery bank that can power the home off the grid. Rainwater is collected from the roof and purified for drinking. The 100 kW electric azimuth thrusters propel the home, reaching up to 7 knots.

The home has two decks to lounge and socialize on, including one that’s retractable. There’s an open floor plan layout that includes the lounging area, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom.

The floor-to-ceiling stackable impact windows give you amazing 270° panoramic views. On the second floor, there are four bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. There are five terraces and balconies so you can always enjoy your views.

The seamless indoor-outdoor spaces will make you feel like one with your surroundings at all times. If $5.5 million is out of reach, Arkup has plans for smaller, more affordable units in the future. Buy Here
