The Astro Elroy Takes Commuting to the Future

What does the future look like to you? We already got the self-lacing Nike Mag sneaks, popularized by Back to The Future. Voice-controlled smart devices like Google Home, Alexa, and Nest are staple home items. Companies are fine tuning autonomous cars. We even have MegaBots, a robot fighting league. Tech is looking promising. While we’re nowhere near the likes of the Jetsons in so many ways—three-day workweeks, anyone?—flying cars may not be the norm, but passenger drones are actually starting to be a thing. Astro Aerospace is joining the flying cars race with completely autonomous flight starting with the Elroy. The Elroy is a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft and Astro believes the VTOL industry will make a big impact on our daily lives and in our cities in an unprecedented way. They hope to radically improve urban mobility and avoid time lost in traffic.

Ride in style with ease

The Elroy has the speed of aviation and the convenience of driving a car all in a sleek and modern package. It’s designed for densely populated areas so you can travel quickly and efficiently. Beat the traffic when you hop into the Elroy and look forward to your daily commute. The full carbon body gives you optimal protection and structural efficiency. The wide cabin glass gives you 360° surround view. That’s a complete bird eye’s view of the slow moving traffic that you’re above and not suffering through or the gorgeous skyline or lake view. The Elroy can seat two passengers, is slightly larger than a compact car, and can fit into most garage spaces.

It’s equipped with 16 individual rotors powered by an emission-free electric motor that runs quietly and fluidly. The Elroy is an environmentally conscious option for short-distance travel with a maximum flight time of 20 to 25 minutes. Longer trips require you to land and recharge, so anything other than a quick beer run or dry cleaning pickup should be met with caution. During a recent flight, the drone flew for 4.5 minutes and reached an altitude of over 60 feet with a speed of over 30 mph. The Elroy has a top speed of 43 mph.

Fast, efficient, and smart

The user-friendly Elroy gives you a stable and smooth flight. It utilizes an in-house developed adaptive flight control algorithm, so the Elroy’s stable in most weather conditions with minimal vibration. You’ll enjoy a smooth flight and even the weariest travelers won’t complain. The drone doesn’t have gearboxes, water-cooling systems, or aerodynamic steering flaps, instead having fiber optic technology. The tech allows for fast and efficient data transmission between the mechanical components, keeping the drone lightweight and reducing magnetic interference.

The custom-designed Touch Flight Control system makes it quick and easy for you to get in the air within minutes. Simply input your destination using the touchscreen interface and the Glass Cockpit Avionics flight support connected with a secure 4G network gets you up and where you need to be. While the Elroy is fully autonomous, the automatic control can be manually overridden with Touch Flight Control or the fly-by-wire joystick.

While the Elroy isn’t available yet, you can reserve yours today and add your name to the waiting list. Buy Here
