Land Rover is dialing up the rugged a few notches with the Land Rover Discovery SVX, the company’s most powerful Discovery model ever. Obviously this isn’t the reincarnation of our beloved Defender, but what is?
The Discovery SVX engine will consist of a 518 horsepower supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 561 lb-ft of torque and a max speed of 161 mph. Rugged and fast. Just like me… On top of a bad ass engine, this SUV also features a raised air suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, center and rear locking differentials and a pistol grip shifter.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer (or CDO if you’re into the whole brevity thing) summed up the mission with the Land Rover Discovery SVX in one nearly perfect sentence. He said, “Discovery SVX reinforces Land Rover’s unrivaled reputation for designing and engineering vehicles with true all-terrain capability for customers who desire the ultimate in off-road performance.”
