The Shelby GT500 Signature Edition Adds 40 Horsepower

The Ford Mustang has always been one of the most iconic American muscle cars. With more than five decades on the streets, the car remains a powerhouse in performance and value. Ford is joining forces with Shelby American to remind us exactly why we love this powerful muscle car.

The custom manufacturer and Detroit auto giant’s collaboration of great minds bring us the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Signature Edition. Collaborations between the two powerhouses aren’t anything new, but the Shelby GT500 Signature Edition is something else.

More performance than ever

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is already the automaker’s most powerful production car, but Shelby’s upgrades are giving it an extra boost. This exclusive muscle car is now powered by 800 hp thanks to Shelby’s mods to Ford’s 5.2L Predator V8, including a smaller supercharger pulley. That’s an additional 40 hp next to the stock version. There’s also an upgrade to the cooling system and a switch to 93-octane pump gas.

These changes have increased power by 5%. The standard version already can go zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The GT500SE also sits lower than the standard and has new, more track-focused front and rear springs and roll bars. A new carbon-fiber hood features dramatic venting. The ultra-light hood takes 30 pounds off the top of the GT500SE. Options also include a wide body kit and carbon fiber package.

The car sits on 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The tires can be upgraded to Cup 2 tires for more grip. Inside, the car features deluxe leather seating with the Carroll Shelby signature stitched into the seatbacks. There will only be 100 of the high-performance GT500SE made available each coming model year. The whole package will cost $29,995, which brings the GT500SE’s starting price to $101,490. The sale of each GT500SE benefits the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Buy Here
