The leader of Russia, Vladimir Putin, will soon auction off his Patek Philippe 5208P. It is one of the rarest watches in the world, and worth a fortune. The sale of Putin’s Patek Philippe 5208P is expected to fetch well over $1 million at a watch auction in Monaco next month.
The rare and exquisite Patek Philippe 5208P is only sold to Patek’s most loyal customers. A lottery winner with hundreds of millions of dollars couldn’t walk off the street and purchase one of these. If the name Patek Philippe doesn’t ring a bell then you simply haven’t read up enough on watches. Patek Philippe is almost unanimously considered to be the finest Swiss watchmaker in the world. In fact, some would argue that Patek Philippe is the finest Swiss watchmaker the world has ever known.
Vladimir Putin will put his Patek Philippe 5208P watch up for auction at the Monaco Legend Auctions held next month in Monaco. The Russian leader won’t be in attendance to see his prized watch on the auction block. However, having Putin’s name attached to this already exceedingly rare watch is certain to drive up the bidding price. The retail price of a Patek Philippe 5208P is 980,000 Swiss Francs, or roughly $1 million USD. To contextualize this watch a little bit, Vladimir Putin’s reported annual salary is only $112,000. So this watch is worth what Vladimir Putin (allegedly) makes in about 9 years.
The Monaco Legend Auctions listing for Vladimir Putin’s Patek Philippe has not yet listed an estimated sale price for the watch. You can see the listing here. The listing is sure to be updated in the coming days as we inch closer to the 2017 auction.
As mentioned before, the Patek Phillippe 5208P ranks amongst the rarest and most exquisite watches in the world. Whoever wins this timepiece at auction will hold a living piece of art.
